5th Grade Promotion

You are cordially invited to attend the Miller Annual 5th grade Promotion Ceremony arranged for Thursday, June 15 at 1:30 p.m.  On Friday, June 16, will be the last day and half day of school.  Students will be dismissed at 11:45 a.m.

Summer Meals for School-Aged Children

If you have a school-aged student in need of breakfast and lunch this summer, simply text “FOOD” to 877877 and receive a message back with a location closest to where they can get free summer meals.
Even if you aren’t in need, someone else’s kids are. No child deserves to go hungry, ever. This is a nationwide program so please share for all of the children who are struggling to get enough food.

Tomorrow is Miller’s First Annual Boat Trip!

Few reminders for the trip:

  • Bagged lunch (brown paper bag or plastic only).  No food or drinks are allowed on the boat.
  • NO DRINKS ALLOWED – School will provide bottled water.
  • Students can purchase snacks from the concession stands on the boat.
  • Please wear comfortable shoes for walking.
  • All chaperones must stay with their child(ren).

So that we may work together for a safe trip, Diamond Jack’s River Tours would like you to be aware of the responsibilities required of your chaperones on board the vessels during school trips.  We ask that the chaperones move among the students to supervise as assigned by the teacher.

Diamond Jack’s River Tours reserves the right to end the trip without refund, if the Captain observes the group is acting in an unsafe manner.

Following are the major points regarding improper behavior that the chaperones should be ready to act upon immediately.  Chaperones should notify the teacher or crew of any ongoing problems.

  1. Running on board the vessels
  2. Climbing on the railings
  3. Standing on the furniture
  4. Hanging outside the windows
  5. Horse play
  6. Garbage should be placed in proper container.

2017 Dearborn Public Schools Impact Award

Just as the Teacher of Year of the year award celebrates the classroom teachers, the Impact award recognizes all other staff members who demonstrate the Dearborn Public School District’s Core Values and are consistently professional, personable and polite as they work with students, contribute to the classroom environment, and provide overall customer service in a variety of roles.

Deadline for submitting nominations: Friday, April 21, 2017.

Who can be nominated: Any full or part-time staff member employed with the Dearborn Public Schools for at least 3 years who provides ongoing demonstration of the District’s Core Values and is consistently personable, professional and polite as they work to create a better Dearborn Public Schools.

Examples of staff members who are eligible include Secretaries, Principals, Para pros, Custodians, Bus Drivers, Food Service Staff, Social Workers, Carpenters, Skilled Trade, Computer technicians or anyone who is not a classroom teacher but works for the Dearborn Public Schools.

1. The nominee must have been employed as a full or part-time staff member of the Dearborn Public Schools for at least 3 years.
2. The nominee must consistently demonstrate the District’s Core Values:
Honesty, Respect for Self and Others, Responsibility, Integrity, Courtesy, Citizenship
3. The nominee must create a better Dearborn Public Schools in the performance of their job.
4. The nominee must be personable, professional, and polite in the daily performance of their job.
5. Previous Impact Award winners may not win again.

Selection Process: Four winners will be selected by a committee of District staff and community members based on the essays submitted.

Presentation: Winners will be presented their awards at the annual Green Tie Event sponsored by the Dearborn Education Foundation and held in May. Winners will receive a $500 cash award, engraved award, and complimentary dinner at the Green Tie Dinner on Tuesday, May 16, 2017.

Who can nominate someone for the Impact Award: Middle and High School students, staff members, parents, and other adults can submit nomination forms.

Empty Bowls 2016

Great job  to Mrs. Saad and the awesome creativity by Miller students for a great cause!  We raised $155.oo dollars so far. The empty Bowls raise more than $3,500.00 dollars and the money is still coming from selling the leftover bowls. The kids enjoyed making their bowls while learning about giving to others in need.
